BNC quoted in an article in Chemistry and Industry Magazine Issue 1. 2012.
11th January 2012: The latest edition of the Chemistry and Industry magazine features an article which reports on "The Future" written by Michael Gross. He discusses the emergence nanotechnology and nanoparticle products, 1317 of which were listed in March 2011 on the inventory of nanoproducts, and despite the great promise shown, there are still a number of obstacles hindering the "road to the nano future". BNC's Business Development Director, Dr Mike FIsher, in his role as theme manager for the healthcare and lifesciences at the Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN) was asked to give his opinion on the matter and is quoted in the article saying: "The drive to reduce hospital stays and to handle the issues generated by the aging population are creating a need for miniaturised devices and diagnostics. Lessons are being learned from the semiconductor industry, where expensive robust consumer electronics have been created. The challenges are both technical, with regards to really understanding the technology and applying it correctly, but also soceital with regards to both acceptance of nanotechnology and the changes that [it] will mean in the way that healthcare is delivered."
