The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is nationally and internationally recognised for science and technology and has a proven track record in the delivery of high quality, cost-effective solutions for government and industry. The Biophysics and Biodiagnostics Group specialises in the areas of single molecule detection, diagnostics, biomolecular characterisation and cellular imaging. The group is developing and applying sophisticated measurement tools to the understanding of biomolecules and biological systems in the context of bio-nanotechnology. Complementing this expertise is that of NPL's Surface and Nanoanalysis Group, who boast a world leading position within the areas of surface chemical characterisation and scanning probe microscopy. Working in synergy at the bio-nano interface the expertise and capabilities available at NPL complement those of the other BNC partners.
