Mike Fisher

Mike is a medicinal chemist with over ten years postdoctoral experience in research, project management and consulting. He began his scientific career at DERA (now DSTL) Porton Down developing optical biosensors for the detection of toxins and pathogens. Moving from research to management, Mike helped develop the biotech cluster in the Northwest of England and became a founder of the Northwest Genetics Knowledge Park. He has extensive experience with internationalising biotech companies and has helped a number of biotechs win business and develop partnerships overseas. Prior to this Mike was with UKTI in Boston USA as the British Government’s North American advisor on life sciences, where he acted as the liaison point for MHRA, NICE and other UK agencies.

In addition to his role at BNC, Mike is the Theme Manager for Bionano & Nanomedicine within the UK’s Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network and an advisor to Barrack Hill Partners, an executive search and HR consulting firm based in Boston and Florida. Mike is a member of the USA Committee of the UK Life Science Marketing Strategy.
