Dr Alex Shard - NPL

Alex has over fifteen years experience in surface science and biomaterials and is an internationally recognised expert in the field of surface modification for biotechnological applications. Prior to working at NPL, he was Senior Lecturer and course leader in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Alex is a regular presenter at international meetings, including invited talks, has authored and co-authored over 60 papers in surface analysis and biomaterials and is co-inventor of two patents covering surface treatment methods.
