Medical Devices and Diagnostics

Prof. Andreas Demosthenous was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1969. He received the B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Leicester, Leicester, U.K., in 1992, the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Technology from Aston University, Birmingham, U.K., in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Electrical engineering from University College London (UCL), London, U.K., in 1998.

Gabriel Aeppli is the Quain Professor of Physics and the Director of the London Centre for Nanotechnology. Prior to taking up these posts in the autumn of 2002, he was a Senior Research Scientist for NEC (Princeton), a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, a Research Assistant at MIT, and an industrial co-op student at IBM.

Tony Cass is currently Professor of Chemical Biology, in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He trained originally as a chemist with degrees from the Universities of York and Oxford.

Tom Duke has a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge and has twenty years of experience in interdisciplinary research, applying physical principles to the study of biological systems.

Rachel McKendry is Reader in Biomedical Nanoscience at the London Centre for Nanotechnology & Division of Medicine, University College London and is internationally recognized for her application of the tools of nanotechnology to probe chemical and biomolecular interactions.

Quan-Shui Zheng received his Ph.D. in mechanics from Tsinghua University in 1989.  He has been a Royal Society Fellow at University of Nottingham, U.K., Europe Fellow and Visiting Professor at Institute de Mécanique de Grenoble, France, Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Technical University Aachen, Germany, and A/Professor and Professor at Jiangxi Polytechnic University, China.
